CinemaCon returns for 2022, just in time for the impending rush of summer movie madness. Whether it’s David Leitch’s Bullet Train or Jordan Peele’s Nope, we’re excited to see them in the greatest place on earth: the cinema. Held in Las Vegas’ iconic Caesars Palace, CinemaCon 2022 is a bonafide film industry banquet accompanied by the latest buffet of fresh, new trailers. While official confirmations of this year’s offerings are yet to be unveiled, it is guaranteed to have heaps of exciting announcements.

So relax and grab the sour patch kids: here’s what to expect at CinemaCon 2022.

John Wick: Chapter 4 (Hagakure)

It feels like an eternity since Chad Stahelski’s third John Wick entry blessed our screens. Originally set to debut on what would have been a glorious Keanu Day with The Matrix Resurrections in May 2021, the formidable assassin was pushed back to March 24, 2023, in early 2022. Details of Keanu Reeves’ next outing have been kept largely under wraps, with the subtitle ‘Hagakure’ appearing online after production crew gifts were leaked. Now, attendees of CinemaCon 2022 have already had their first taste of John Wick: Chapter 4, thanks to an epic lightbox display captured via Bleeding Cool, showcasing our favourite hitman poised for action.

The Expendables 4 (Expend4bles)

Back in January 2020, it was announced that Expendables character Lee Christmas (Jason Statham) would be appearing in his own spin-off, tentatively titled The Expendables: A Christmas Story. Sylvester Stallone confirmed the project would go ahead in August 2021, but it is unclear whether this morphed into the fourth and final Expendables entry. But it is true, the boys are back in town for one last hurrah. Directed by Need For Speed helmer Scott Waugh, The Expendables 4 aka Expend4bles is slated to release later this year. Get your initial look at the squad teaming up, with newcomers such as Curtis ’50 Cent’ Jackson joining the fight.

Look out for the potential first look at this and John Wick: Chapter 4 on Thursday, April 28 when the Lionsgate panel takes place.

The Flash, Aquaman and The Lost Kingdom & Black Adam

Warner Brothers will be previewing their upcoming slate of releases on Tuesday, April 26 and of course, DCEU fans are looking forward to any glimpses they can get of the universe’s future. DC Fandome 2021 gave us a brief look at The Flash and Black Adam respectively, but James Wan’s Aquaman and The Lost Kingdom awaits an official reveal. While these films haven’t been officially confirmed, it is highly likely that Warner Brothers will be keen to test the waters with new footage as interest in the DCEU continues to become strained. Shazam: Fury of the Gods may also be on the cards too.

Outside of the DCEU, Creed III may hit the preview selection too, along with more of Baz Luhrmann’s Elvis.

Avatar 2, Indiana Jones 5 & Black Panther: Wakanda Forever

Disney will be taking over the stage on Wednesday, April 27 and this could be the perfect opportunity to finally unveil James Cameron’s Avatar 2. On track to release in December 2022, the highly anticipated sci-fi sequel is undoubtedly one of the most secretive projects of the last ten years. Toy Story spin-off Lightyear and Ryan Coogler’s Black Panther: Wakanda Forever are rumored to show off footage to CinemaCon attendees too but for us, one film would be the icing on the cake: Indiana Jones 5.

The next adventure for Harrison Ford’s beloved archaeologist wrapped in February. Indiana Jones 5 marks a momentous occasion for the franchise, as long-running franchise director Steven Spielberg, has handed over the keys to James Mangold. Let’s just hope there aren’t any UFOs or vine-swinging this time.

Mission: Impossible 7

Christopher McQuarrie’s sequel to Mission: Impossible Fallout is the first of a two-parter conclusion to the high octane Tom Cruise franchise. Having faced multiple delays in its path to completion, Mission: Impossible 7 is shaping up to be a goliath triumph of action greatness. At least if the behind-the-scenes photos are to be believed. Cruise returns alongside the usual I.M.F suspects, but franchise newcomers Hayley Atwell and Esai Morales are sure to up the ante. Paramount will be speaking at CinemaCon on Thursday, April 28.

Kraven The Hunter, Bullet Train & Across The Spider-Verse: Part One

Aaron Taylor-Johnson’s foray into the Sony/Marvel universe began filming recently, bringing us one step closer to the cinematic debut of Kraven The Hunter. As the project is early on in production, chances are slim that any footage will debut, but there is always a chance that Kraven The Hunter may get a sizzle reel to entice attendees. David Leitch’s Bullet Train is on track to release this July and continues Leitch’s brand of chaotic goodness. An extended look at the Brad Pitt blockbuster could make an appearance, while a look at Across The Spider-Verse: Part One is a hopeful prospect. With the animated feature delayed to 2023, a deeper dive into Miles Morales’ next dimension-hopping adventure would ease the pain for us at least.

Sony arrives at CinemaCon on Monday, April 25.
